Ever wanted to write comedy but didn’t know where to start? Start here. In this one-night workshop, we’ll build a sketch together as a group, from the first spark of a premise to the final button. Along the way, you’ll learn the basic structure behind a sketch and ways to find the funny in an idea. No experience or ideas needed. Just show up. Then we’ll read it out loud, cold, because that’s half the fun. It won’t be perfect. It will be finished. Cold Open is your first look at Brickhaus: how we write and the sketch community we’re building. This night is a sample of what we do in The Sketch Lab, our multi-week writing class, where you’ll go from writing one sketch as a group to writing your own.
